We've got 37 years of combined experience working in the fire protection field, and we're triple NICET certified across different disciplines within it. Ignite Prep grew out of a simple frustration we kept running into: too many study programs out there charge $300, $400, or more for practice material that should be within reach of anyone serious about passing their NICET exam.
We started Ignite Prep to give people a better option — real, thorough practice exams built from decades of hands-on field experience and certification across multiple NICET disciplines, priced so a technician early in their career isn't priced out of preparing properly.
Why we do this
We genuinely love this field. Fire protection work matters — it keeps people safe — and the people entering it deserve prep material that respects both their time and their wallet. Every question in an Ignite Prep exam is written from NICET's permitted reference materials, reviewed for accuracy, and built to reflect how the real exam is actually structured.
Our goal isn't just to sell practice tests. It's to help the next generation of fire protection professionals get certified, get to work, and help this industry keep succeeding.
Where we're headed
Ignite Prep isn't building a study guide. We're building the certification prep standard for the entire fire protection industry, one discipline at a time.
NICET certifies technicians across five fire protection disciplines: Fire Alarm Systems, Inspection and Testing of Fire Alarm Systems, Water-Based Systems Layout, Inspection and Testing of Water-Based Systems, and Special Hazards Systems. Every one of them is on our roadmap. Water-Based Systems Inspection and Testing is where we're starting, not where we're stopping.
Why we started with Water-Based Systems Inspection and Testing
Every discipline we build gets held to the same standard: written by people who have actually done the work, verified line by line against NICET's current outline, and tested for accuracy before a single question goes up for sale. We started with Water-Based Systems Inspection and Testing because it's where that standard was easiest for us to prove out first, with decades of hands-on, in-the-field experience behind every question we wrote.
That standard is the whole point. Most exam prep in this industry is either outdated, written by someone summarizing a manual instead of someone who's done the work, or priced like it's the only option you have. We think techs deserve better than that, in every discipline NICET certifies, not just the one we launched with.
What's next
We're not going to rush five mediocre exam sets out the door just to say we cover everything. Each new discipline goes through the same process this one did: real field expertise, real verification against NICET's outline, and real testing before it's ever sold. That takes time to do right, and we'd rather take that time than cut corners on something a technician's career depends on.
